10 New Rolling Stone Songs

Well it is almost here.  The re-release date of Exile on Main Street.  I understand that there will be 10 new songs.

Now, these songs are cut outs and I will be surprised to hear something earth shattering.  After all, if these songs were really up to snuff they would have been released on a later album.  I hope that I am pleasantly surprised.  But I don't think we will hear another, "Satisfaction."

Should it be, Let it Be or Let it Be Naked

In 2003 Sir Paul McCartney decided he would wipe away Phil Specter's additions to Let it Be.  The group had never been happy with the album and I think it was partly due to the dubbings of Mr. (I think I just killed somebody) Specter.  Plus, the Beatles were just not happy together anymore.

Let it Be was originally titled, Get Back.  In my many travels as a musician someone handed me a tape and said that they thought I would enjoy.  Well the tape was a bootleg copy of the Let it Be sessions.  It was interesting listening to them talk in between takes.  It was also interesting hearing some of these songs with different lyrics.  Unfortunately I did not guard this tape and it got nicked (stolen).

I personally like Paul's efforts to bring the recording back to its original form.  I think, Let it Be Naked is the best version.  But, I like the music to have a bit of edginess about it.  Sometimes you can just over due it and choke the life out of the music.

So, do you like Let it Be or would you rather go Naked?

Music is the universal language

In 1966 my parents bought me a gift that changed my life forever.  It was a 1966 Ludwig drum set that I still use to this very day.

Along this wonderful musical journey I have had the pleasure of meeting many fine people.  But what makes a musician?  It is found in the heart.  A musician's heart loves life and he takes care of his/her music.

The Rolling Stones will re-release, "Exile on Main Street'" with previously unreleased songs.  Being a hard core Stones fan I can't wait.  I was fortunate enough to see the Stones when Exile first was released.  They did several songs off the album.  Simply put, it was an event to remember.  I got my self proclaimed theme song from this record entitled, "Tumblin' Dice."   Yeah, I am a lone crap shooter playin' the field every night, as the song goes. Can't wait for this release for it will be a topic of discussion.

Thanks and I hope we have some good dialogues with each other.  Also, please click on the ads because they keep this going.  God Bless and keep the rhythmn,  Bill
